how to create PDF
You can create PDF file in two ways:
• create PostScript file and convert it to a PDF using Adobe Acrobat Distiller (part of commercial package Adobe Acrobat)
• some page layout or illustration software such as Adobe PageMaker, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Ilustrator, CorelDRAW are familiar with PDF file format. Use the Save-To-PDF or Export PDF options in these programs
Whenever you create a PDF, there are several key options you must consider:
• keep compatibility with Adobe Acrobat 4.0 (PDF version 1.3)
• embed all fonts in PDF file
• set default resolution to 600 dpi
• don't allow to change colours while PDF creation ("Leave Colour Unchanged" option in Acrobat Distiller)
Below you'll find example steps how to create PDF from CorelDRAW 11, in other applications steps may looks similar.
in File menu click Publish To PDF...

enter the file destination path and filename then click Settings...

in General tab select "Compability: Acrobat 4.0" and "PDF style: PDF for Prepress"

in Objects tab check options as follows

in Document tab check options as follows

in Prepress tab unmark all options

for colour jobs (eg. covers) depending on print technology select composite or separation printer profile:
covers for book quantities 1-200 A4, B5, 1-400 A5, printed on Xerox DocuColor 2060

covers for book quantities >200 A4, B5, >400 A5,
printed on Heidelberg Quickmaster DI 46-4

click OK then PDF file generation will start
